These X's on my hands have the signify something, don't they, don't they.
These X's on my hands have the signify something, don't they, won't they.
Is it my character, the x stands for extremist, going against the flow, staying out of pop culture. Straight edge, or just straight hype, get to know me and find out what I think is right.
It's my choice isn't it, to protect my body while you poison yours?
I try and keep all my doors available, all my options open.
So call me an outcast and cast me out, see who has the last laugh when you find what I'm about out.
I don't need your synthetic smile to feel good, I can do that on my own.
And if you think I'm playing just wait till your alone.
See who's laughing now.
These X's on my hands have the signify something, don't they, don't they.
These X's on my hands have the signify something, don't they, won't they.
It's the way I look isn't it. I look out of place with a cold one in my hands.
So why is it that at this age I can go and die, then hold a gun in my cold dead hands.
Doesn't that seem wrong, these things start to add up but the sum is always off.
Just like the sum total of votes my generation brings, we have a voice and it's starting to get dry.
Let us wet our whistle, and then you can hear us chime,
I bet within a year underage drinking will be starting to decline.
Europe must being doing something right, but were still behind the curve.
I say give us some us justice and the right before we even consider going off to fight.
These X's on my hands have the signify something, don't they, don't they.
These X's on my hands have the signify something, don't they, won't they.
Whatever it is that you see me as, I didn't ask for the label, I just came for the show.
Everyone has to get a stamp I just have to get four lines more.
I wait in line with everyone, but at the front I stop, make me ashamed or proud when I raise my fist tonight
So when you see our hands in the air and the X's all around.
Raise them higher, get loud, be proud.
When you see our hands in the air and no one seems to care.
Throw them higher, be loud get proud.
These X's on my hands have the signify something, don't they, don't they.
These X's on my hands have the signify something, don't they, won't they.
At shows, they mark you with an X on each hand if your under 21. X's on hands used to be a sign for the straight edge movement, where people didn't drink smoke or have sex. I guess I took the straight edge side and the under 21 who believes 18 should be the drinking age side. It's a hip hop song, I like it.

Doomtree will hold me down...
...while I scream at them for being so damn good and making me want to listen to their music when I know I can't even though I just paid for CDs that I have to wait to listen to and will probably have Colin telling me they're great, amazing, and rub it in my face, no offense to Colin, I just know they are going be sooooo good.
Concert was really good, kinda had it's lows like being behind a nerdy kid who acted like he was trippin on shrooms and making me very uncomfortable. From that to having a drunken girl try and get the attention of every guy around her and having to get her out of my proximity. The highs were so good though that I go over being behind a 7 foot beast of a man. The new music was so great, can't wait to listen to the CD again and see them preform live again. High point: slow burn. Another high point: the rest of the show. The end had soo much energy it was off the hizzy. High point: This one's ours lets take another, that's freaking a right, doomtree quoting fugazi, aahhhhh. Cool point: mike's minnesota hat that used the m in the word doomtree, it was awesome. High point: having dessa, pos, and sims sign my shirt, no sign of the rest of the crew, but the poster I have makes up for that. High point: making friends with the merch lady so she recommended CDs and talked about how sweet the show will be and then was.

Such a long time to go...
I really really want to listen to music. Just thought I'd let you know. Music is everywhere I turn, and I have to turn back. It's so quiet. The second day I was driving and I was behind a motorcycle and I was kind of enjoying the wierd sound it was making, something I don't usually focus on. And I thought that this week might be like that, noticing the sounds I usually ignore. But really, there are those sounds, and they mostly annoy me. Cars driving by, the wind blowing through trees, squirrels chattering, and my computer's fan whirring. I've had enough of them, really. I wonder what Morris would be like, because it's even quieter there. So I guess I'm glad I have some noise, but it's all so lame. Give me nature sounds, a frog or a duck, something unusual like a helicopter or a cat meowing.
But I guess as far as writing goes, I'm more productive. I gave up on classifing the music I'm writing, it's just music, just songs. I want to write more punk, but I also want to get away from short AABBCCDD rhyming that I usually end up doing. So I try and write longer lines and catchier choruses. The last song fit that pretty well. I also don't revise the songs too much, just kinda leave them as they are. As guitar tunes go, not much happening there. Drums are getting better, but I couldn't hold anyone's attention long enough to call anything a song, not even mine. I have one basic idea in my head that I feel I kinda touched in last night's song, but want to focus a little more on. Doing what ever you want.
Anyways, I'm off to jam some drums before doomtree show tonight. I want to write some killer bass riffs for some hip hop, that'd kick ass.

It's a f@#%ing song
When you can't stop looking boh ways before you cross the street
You know you need to give up on all you thought you've seen
If you need a map to get where your walking off to
Then you need to stop and dthink where it is you have been
Take the things you've learned all along your path
But leave room for the man running the stop light
Because he is in a rush and for that you'll be blindsided
Afterwards you realize you didn't see all was right
Have a drink and have a seat
Whatever gets your mind off of
All the stress and all the heat
These summer days can make you love
Take the first step but don't expect traffic to halt
It's a risky life but it's the one with the most rewards
Don't sit around all day, get up, get a move on
Go outside and get something done, break all your wards
Have a drink and have a seat
Whatever gets your mind off of
All the stress and all the heat
These summer days can make you love
Wrote this one in less than 20 minutes. I started by drawing an eye and with the idea of looking when you cross the street. I don't know, i didn't read over it really, but I kinda like it.
